Abounding provision for Computers for Refugees!
Despite the drizzle and the gloomy cloudy sky of a fall morning, we at Computers for Refugees are overjoyed as we give thanks for the donations in the past week.
Last week, we were in MacGuyver-mode as we were down to our last laptop, which did not have an internal camera. We had just ordered an external webcam to outfit it.
Well, at the beginning of that week, an IT technician at a local education institution asked if he could drop off some laptops and computers accessories for us. He came late Thursday afternoon and brought 14 laptops, two desktops, a half dozen speakers, and computer mice. Wow! What a blessing.
Also, in the Tuesday evening online Medical English class that I participate in, I had the opportunity to give a 15 minute presentation about Computers for Refugees. One of members of our class is a faculty head at another local educational institution.
We are also working with a local business that is looking to donate laptops for a project at a local middle school.
We are happy to reach out to businesses and institutions. What do you do with your computers when you upgrade to newer models? Consider donating to Computers for Refugees. Our technical partner Stu Metzler can answer all your questions.
At the same time, during the past two weeks, we have also received donations from individuals, for which we are grateful.
Also, last week, we received a financial gift that will allow us to purchase accessories, such as Wifi adapters, webcams, and headphones.
Our technical partners Stu and Charlie have been kept busy running back and forth to the Alpha and Omega Community Center to pick up and drop off computers.
The good news is that we have what we need to fulfill the requests for the Migrant Education Program and the IU13 Refugee Center.
May faith has also grown. I was praying for two computer mice to finish two orders.
Well, we received almost 20 laptops in the past two weeks. Now, I need to get back to work adding language -learning websites to the home screens of four laptops that are going out this week.
Blessings for your day!
